Spacer characteristics:
Surgival surgical knee and hip spacers are designed for temporary implantation as an aid for the treatment of knee and hip prosthesis infections via a two-stage surgical technique.
The design of the spacers offers multiple benefits for both surgeons and patients:
- Time-savings during surgery: ready-to-use, predefined shape and multiple sizes.
- Safety: standardised and certified mechanical and pharmacological performance
- Efficacy: excellent clinical results.
- Improves patient quality of life between surgeries: enables the patient to walk with partial weight-bearing, carry out everyday activities and provides the possibility of performing physical therapy.
- Reduces hospitalisation and functional recovery time.
Surgival hip spacers
A hip spacer is an individual device in the shape of a femoral prosthesis similar to a hemiprosthesis and is made up of a head, neck and stem.
- Steel supporting structure with radiopaque bone cement coating (PMMA) with Gentamicin.
- Effective local release to treat prosthesis infection.
- Sterile, single-use medical device. Sterilised with ethylene oxide.
- Available in standard profile (Charnley type) and flat profile (Müller type) in different lengths and head diameters (consult).
Surgival knee spacers
A knee spacer is a device similar to a prosthesis that is made up of two independent articular elements: a tibial component and a femoral component.
- Made with radiopaque bone cement (PMMA) with Gentamicin.
- Effective local release to treat prosthesis infection.
- Sterile, single-use medical device. Sterilised with ethylene oxide.
- Both the tibial component and the femoral component are available in various widths.
