Karey Stem Characteristics:

The design Karey Primary Stems Surgival  provides an ideal combination of resistance and fixation by minimising the geometry, offering a concept that is respectful of the patient’s anatomy.

The progressive trapezoidal geometry  enables optimal adaptation of the stem and both anti-translational and anti-rotational fixation that provides perfect primary stability while preventing the hip prosthesis from sinking.

Cementless Karey HA

• Made from Titanium Alloy (Ti6Al4V).
• Hydroxyapatite spray coating  (130 µm) that provides a porous surface with excellent biocompatibility and generates an ideal structure for bone growth.
• Stems available with and without collars  (limits implant subsidence and migration).
• Triple wedge design: The trapezoidal shape in the sagittal and frontal planes offers enhanced primary stability and prevents prosthesis sinking. The size of the distal part is progressively reduced to decrease implant rigidity and improve contact with the cancellous bone (secondary stability).
• Metaphyseal semicircular macrostructures: increase the contact surface, preventing sinking and providing an antivarus effect.
• Longitudinal grooves: Increase bone–implant contact surface, preventing rotation, reducing distal rigidity with respect to the metaphyseal portion and improve diaphyseal vascularisation of the femur with the prosthetic.

Cemented Karey C

• Made from High Nitrogen Stainless Steel (ISO 5832- 9).

• Triple wedge design: The trapezoidal shape in the sagittal and frontal planes offers enhanced primary stability and prevents prosthesis sinking.

• Polished surface with rounded edges: Ensure correct adhesion to the cement, preventing the concentration of tension.

• Fine conical distal tip: Prevents diaphyseal locking and provides a construction with distal flexibility so as to not compromise the cemented fixation.

• Stems also available in sizes 11 to 16 with centraliser orifice.
