DCP Plates Characteristics
DCP plate System from Surgival (Dynamic Compression Plates) are indicated for temporary fixation, correction or stabilisation of bones in various anatomical areas. The system features a geometric design of the holes in the plate that offers dynamic compression, neutralisation and support or buttress options.
Specifications
- All the implants are made with Stainless Steel (ISO 5832-1).
- Geometry of the plate orifices: The plates feature a series of oval-shaped holes with an angled area and hemispherical area. When a compressive effect is desired, a screw is inserted into the angled area in such a way that, during insertion and as an effect of contact with the screw head against the inclined surface, it will cause plate displacement.
- Configuration of the plate orifices: The plate orifices may be aligned or staggered. This last configuration makes it possible to always find a position to screw into the bone and is more efficient for plate stability as the load is spread laterally.
- Angle of the screws: The oval holes of the plates have a shape which allows angling of the screw in the transverse plane (7º) and longitudinal plane (25º).
The DCP systems compress the plate against the bone when the threaded screw rests on the base of the plate housing and pushes the plate against the bone. This provides excellent stability while also helping maintain the fracture reduction. In addition, this union is not “stiff” (the screw can turn twist on the plate base, which promotes contact between the fracture fragments).
Surgival offers the two following DCP PLATE systems:
DCP PLATES FOR LARGE FRAGMENTS
Surgival PLATES for LARGE FRAGMENTS:
- These are indicated for fractures and osteotomies of large bones like the femur, tibia and humerus.
- They are available in different sizes and numbers of holes for each type of plate.
- The use of cortical screws, self-tapping cortical screws and cancellous bone screws in different sizes are recommended for each plate model.

DCP PLATES FOR SMALL FRAGMENTS
Surgival PLATES for SMALL FRAGMENTS
- These are indicated for fractures and osteotomies of smaller bones, such as the humerus, radius, ulna, clavicle, fibula, tibia and pelvis
- They are available in various lengths and number of holes for each type of plate.
- The use of cortical screws, self-tapping cortical screws and cancellous bone screws in different sizes are recommended for each plate model.
DCP PLATES FOR MINI FRAGMENTS
Surgival PLATES for MINI FRAGMENTS:
- These are indicated for fractures of the phalanges, metacarpals and metatarsals.
- They are available in various lengths and number of holes for each type of plate.
- The use of cortical screws in different sizes are recommended for each plate model.
